I found this piece while seaching online. I thought her story was inspiring, and also sad becasue she has lost so much as she got older. And that is exactly what I am; a women of the desert. I grew up on the arid lands of Arizona, and all of me am invested in the desert. My family lives here and grew up here and they are all a partof me and a part of the desert. When I was 10 I was sent to a government boarding school. And made us feel like a part of their lives.
